Partner and Head, Asia, Baker Botts

Mike is a Partner in the Hong Kong office of the international law firm, Baker Botts LLP, and is Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s offices in Asia Pacific.  He has been resident in Hong Kong since 2003.

Mike’s practice focuses on oil and gas M&A and oil and gas industry transactions.  In his practice, he represents foreign companies seeking to acquire oil and gas interests in Asia (inbound) as well as companies resident in Asia, including NOCs, making oil and gas investments overseas (outbound).  Mike also assists these clients with core industry transactions, including data acquisitions, joint studies, joint operations, farm-ins and farm-outs, unitizations, crude oil sales, gas sales and transportation, oil and gas processing, facility sharing, and other industry transactions relating to the acquisition, operation, and disposition of their oil and gas interests.  In addition to representing oil and gas companies companies investing in China, Mike has represented clients in connection with oil and gas acquisitions and related transactions in more than 25 countries around the world.

Prior to going into private practice, Mike was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alaska and Senior Counsel for BP.
