Phil Kangas is a Principal in Grant Thornton’s Metro-DC/Arlington office with twenty five years experience in government and consulting. He leads several accounts including Energy, NASA, NSF and the State of Maryland. He also leads the national Energy Industry team for Natural Resources & Mining. His consulting focus includes engagements related to strategic planning, business process reengineering and improvement, business case analysis, workload assessment, performance measurement, and acquisition activities. Prior to his work in consulting, he gained firsthand experience working in government as a federal, state and local government employee. He has been certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute, as a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) by the Association of Government Accountants, and as a Six Sigma Green Belt by the American Society for Quality. He is a former member of the Professional Services Council (PSC) Board of Directors and is a frequent speaker at the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) World Congress.
