African Intelligence
Our editorial policy
A specialised daily
Africa Intelligence publishes daily exclusive information essential to understanding the local and regional challenges the continent faces today.
In April 2020, after nearly 40 years of reporting, Africa Intelligence became a daily publication to better reflect the fast and complex developments taking place on the continent. This change saw a joining of the site’s five long-standing newsletters: West Africa Newsletter, The Indian Ocean Newsletter, Maghreb Confidential, Africa Energy Intelligence and Africa Mining Intelligence.
A pan-African investigative view
Our publication chronicles the political, diplomatic and economic lives of the African states in detail. We look for the men and women working behind the scenes in these three fields, those pulling the strings outside of the official circuits, and decipher their relational circles.
While Africa Intelligence covers all of the sectors strategic to the continent, we offer specialised reporting of the oil and gas and mining industries and focus on those with a growing pan-African impact: infrastructure and power, banking and finance, and security and defence matters.
We shed light on emerging leaders as they gain in influence within their political spheres and decode the activities and relational circles of the men and women in power. We pinpoint those involved in major contracts, whether prominent figures or more discrete actors, and delve into their networks. We keep abreast of local and regional politics as well as the geopolitical strategies of the established and emerging powerhouses as they gain in influence on the continent.
