Alioune Dieng
HSE Security Advisor, Cairn Energy
Alioune is based in Cairn’s Dakar office where he leads all Health, Safety, Environmental and Security matters for the company’s Senegal operations. Alioune is a Senegalese national and was born and grew up in Joal Fadiouth, a village south east of Dakar.
Prior to joining Cairn in Senegal, Alioune held security management positions in the aviation industry and health and safety roles in the gold mining industry.
Alioune has a master’s degree in Law from Dakar University, the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and a master’s degree in Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ). He is also a former championship basketball player and has represented Senegal.
Alioune’s responsibilities with Cairn in Senegal include: overseeing HSE and security performance of all operational activities; acting as the focal point of various social investment programmes; and advising on regulatory permits and approvals relating to HSE and compliance. His role requires liaison with governmental departments, local community and municipal leaders. Alioune is actively involved in engagement with local communities, businesses and authorities to help build awareness of Cairn Energy and the wider offshore oil and gas industry in Senegal.
