Ashwin is a seasoned investment banker in the energy sector with 25+ years of global experience spanning the UK, US, Asia and India. He has a successful track record of leading complex, high value cross border advisory and capital markets transactions, and currently heads the energy investment banking franchise for Europe, the Americas and Africa at Standard Chartered Bank. Before joining Standard Chartered, Ashwin held Managing Director roles in the Energy Investment Banking divisions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch (2010-2017) and Citi (2000-2010).

Some notable transactions that Ashwin has advised on include Equinor’s sale of W African assets to Chappal, Trident Energy’s acquisition of assets from Chevron and Total, merger of ENI and BP Angola companies ($14.2bn) to create Azule Energy, Exxon sale of MPN to Seplat ($1.6bn), Eni acquisition of BP Algeria, Kosmos HYB Capital Market issuances, Exxon sale of assets in C Africa, IPO of ADNOC distribution ($850m), Kosmos advisory and acquisition financing for Oxy Ghana ($400m), ENOC corporate takeover of Dragon Oil PLC ($2.7bn), advising Saudi Aramco divestment of Petron Philippines ($550m), ENI sale of stake in Mozambique LNG to Exxon ($2.6bn), ONGC acquisition of a stake in Area 1 from Anadarko and Videocon ($5.1bn).

He holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore) and an Electrical Engineering degree from Poona University.
