Brian Essner
VP International Marketing & Egypt Country Manager, Noble Energy
Brian Essner leads Noble Energy’s international marketing and midstream gas commercialization activities, including for the Mediterranean and West Africa regions, and is Noble Energy’s Egypt Country Manager. Brian joined Noble Energy from BG Group in December 2015.
Brian’s extensive experience covers integrated energy management, multinational negotiations, energy marketing & trading, commercial management and business development with material success in Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Russia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Trinidad & Tobago and the United States, among others.
Recent Career
Most recently, Brian served on the joint venture leadership team for the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating company (KPO) as a venture Director and Commercial Vice President, seconded from BG Group based in Aksai, Kazakhstan. As the senior-most commercial officer, Brian was responsible for PSC and JoA commercial management of 9 billion barrels of condensate, 48 TCF of gas, and 400,000 boe per day ($9 billion per year) of oil, gas, and condensate production and sales into and through Russia to global markets.
Previously, Brian served on the leadership team as Vice President, Commercial and Business Development for BG Group’s US shale joint venture. In this role, Brian was responsible for the strategic and day-to-day direction of business development, marketing, optimization, and commercial operations activities ensuring the transport and sale of natural gas and condensate from the Haynesville, Cotton Valley and Travis Peak formations in East Texas and North Louisiana.
Brian also held various roles in BG’s LNG Trading organization with specific focus managing the global LNG supply portfolio overseeing 13.5 million tonnes per annum (~2 Bcf/d) of LNG including multinational negotiations of diversion payment terms, portfolio optimization, lifting programs, and sales and purchase agreements with various international oil companies and governments. As one of the original team tasked with establishing the LNG trading capability, he helped build and implement a portfolio of over 200 cargoes per year and $2+ billion in incremental revenue.
Brian held various Marketing, Business Development, and Asset Optimization positions in Panhandle Energy’s pipeline, storage and LNG businesses before joining BG Group.
Brian is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA. He and his wife, Assem, have two boys, Daniel and Grayson.
