Chiagozie Hilary-Nwokonko (Partner) is an experienced Nigerian solicitor who has dealt extensively with issues of Nigerian foreign investment and corporate law, general commercial law, oil and gas, environmental law, mining law, construction law, competition law and taxation. He has advised clients such as Chevron, CNOOC, Addax, Canadian Natural Resources, Conoco, Exxon, Amoco, Setanta, Sinopec, Eland, NNPC, Lekoil and Seplat over the past three decades. He has been involved in significant Nigerian oil and gas transactions such as the acquisition by CNOOC of a 90% PSC interest in OML 130, the acquisition of Addax by Sinopec, the acquisition of a 40% participating interest in OML 40 by Elcrest, the acquisition of Eland by Seplat, and the sale of a 40% participating interest in OMLs 86 and 88 by Chevron.

As a practitioner of competition law however, Chiagozie has addressed competition law issues in diverse sectors including agricultural commodities, technology and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Chiagozie is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and holds postgraduate degrees in Energy and Natural Resources Law and Policy and Global Antitrust and Economics from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, Scotland and George Mason University, Virginia, USA, respectively.
