Dallas has acted as lead counsel on large, complex securities transactions and corporate reorganizations as well as significant resource-related acquisitions. He provides advice and legal services to entrepreneurial start-ups and venture capital investors. He also acts as counsel in public offerings and for bidders, target companies, independent directors, and financial advisers in take-over bids and going-private transactions.
A significant portion of Dallas's practice involves acting for oil and gas, pipeline, and mining companies in joint ventures, partnerships and strategic alliances regarding major greenfield and expansion projects.
Dallas regularly provides advice to Canadian resource, midstream and service companies expanding internationally and to foreign corporations acquiring and/or establishing a business in Canada.
Before a career in law, Dallas was an exploration geologist with a multinational oil company.
Dallas has written and spoken on a variety of securities and resource-related issues. He is a member of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation, as well as a director and/or officer of several public corporations. He has served as a governor and a director of the Canadian Oilmen's Executive Association.
