Since March 2019 Markus Schöffel is in different positions responsible for the coordination of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe’s CO₂ transformation program, aiming for substantial CO₂ reduction by use of hydrogen and leading to climate neutral steelmaking in 2050. Before, he worked almost 4 years in the company’s intellectual property management and acquired extensive experience in flat steel products. In previous positions, he was IP manager and laboratory manager within Covestro and regional sales manager France within raytest. He obtained his PhD from Ecole Polytechnique (France) in 2012 for studies of rare earth materials and holds two Master’s degrees in chemistry and physics.
