Jérôme Halbout is a Founding Partner of 4D Global Energy Advisors. His experience in the energy sector dates to 1992, as Head of the Energy Project Finance teams of Crédit Lyonnais and Lazard Frères & Cie. Subsequently Senior Banker, Head of the Energy/ Utilities Sector at Crédit Lyonnais, his responsibilities covered all of the bank's activities worldwide in the industry.

Before working in the finance industry, Jérôme undertook 10 years of basic research at the CNRS in Paris and during post-doctoral work at the Enrico Fermi Institute at the University of Chicago.

A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, Jérôme holds a French Doctorat es Sciences, and is a Ph.D in Geochemistry from the University of Paris. He has chaired and participated in numerous industry panels, including for the International Energy Agency and the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie, and is a member of the Paris Energy Club, a think tank founded by the Institut Français du Pétrole. Jérôme served as a director of the GEP, the association of French oil services companies, between 2006 and 2013 and again since 2016, and of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Lyon) between 2003 and 2010. He was a lecturer at the Paris School of International Affairs, the MBA programme of Institut des Sciences Politiques (Paris) until 2015.

Jérôme speaks fluent English and French, and serves on the boards of directors of the three 4D funds and current portfolio companies Africa Fortesa Corporation Limited and Foroil SAS.
