John is CEO of Summit E&P Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation of Japan.  He has a First Class B.Sc. in Physics with Geophysics from Bath University, an M.Sc. in Geophysics from Durham University and 40 years of experience in the E&P business. 

John has worked in a range of technical, commercial, operational and management positions, starting with Western Geophysical, then Texaco, Enterprise Oil, RWE Dea and OMV. After a short period working as an independent international advisor with an Africa focus, he joined Summit as CEO in January 2019, where he leads a small team in London overseeing UKCS E&P activities and growth, in addition to developing global E&P strategy with Sumitomo.

John’s experience covers the full range of E&P activities across many geographies and geologies, but with more focus on NW Europe, Africa, Middle East and SE Asia.  He was also elected President of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain in 2013.
