Karen David-Green, Senior Vice President Stakeholder Engagement & Chief Marketing Officer

At Weatherford, Karen leads the Company’s strategic communications, international public affairs, global marketing, stakeholder engagement, and forward-thinking brand. She directs and oversees the Company’s Digital Strategy and Sustainability Agenda, including defining and leading implementation of overall digital strategy and identifying new marketing techniques, technology and processes to achieve innovative digital engagement across the customer lifecycle. During her tenure at Weatherford, Karen has helped to transform the company’s brand, shift the culture, and shape employee engagement for the company’s extensive global infrastructure spanning more than 80 countries. She serves on the Disclosure, Sustainability, Global Crisis Management and Business Continuity Committees, The Weatherford Foundation, and is an inaugural member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Karen transformed the Weatherford global communication and marketing practices by developing award-winning digital engagement tools that cross audience segments and deliver measurable results. Her team consistently earns awards for innovative marketing and communications strategies, including 2019 Lantern Award, Best of Oil and Gas, Business Marketing Association, 2019 Internal Communication Campaign, MarCom Awards, and 2018 Best Product Launch Marketing Campaign, American Marketing Association.

She spent much of her earlier career as a financial expert in the energy industry on Wall Street. Karen held the role of Executive Director, U.S. Equity Research, Oil Services & Equipment for Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. She also served in senior leadership positions at Calyon Securities USA and The Royal Bank of Canada as well as Director of Fixed Income Research at American General Corporation where she was responsible for both the investment grade and high-yield chemical portfolio analysis and allocations. Prior to joining Weatherford, Karen was Director, Global Market Research for Baker Hughes Inc. where she led strategic, competitive and customer intelligence worldwide.

Currently, Karen serves on the Board of Directors for the Petroleum Equipment & Services Association, Small Steps Nurturing Center, and the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She also serves on the IPAA/PESA Education Advisory Board to support student learning in science, mathematics, and emerging technology concepts. She is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Partnership and the Women’s Energy Network. Formerly, Karen served as a  Board Member of the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy and as an Advisory Board Member of The Women’s Fund.

Throughout her career, Karen has won numerous awards. Most recently, she was named one of the 2020 Top 50 Women in Oil and Gas by the National Diversity Council, and as a 2020 Global Leader of Influence by the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston. She was named 2019 Women Who Mean Business by the Houston Business Journal and a 2019 Breakthrough Woman of the Year by the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce. She is a frequent speaker at industry events and conferences on topics related to the oil and gas industry and culture and stakeholder relations. Karen earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.

 

Karen joined Weatherford in June 2010 as Vice President of Investor Relations. She then also led Corporate Communications for several years before assuming further responsibility for Marketing. Prior to joining Weatherford, Karen held the role of Vice President of Equity Research covering the U.S. Oil Services and Equipment Industry at Oppenheimer, CLSA, and The Royal Bank of Canada. Karen also held the position of Director of Fixed Income Research at American General Corporation where she was responsible for both the investment grade and high-yield chemical portfolio analysis and allocations. Following her Wall Street career, she served as the head of Global Market Research at Baker Hughes.

Karen is a member of the IPAA/PESA Education Advisory Board supporting student learning in science, mathematics, and emerging technology concepts. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Partnership and the Women’s Energy Network. She is also a former Board Member of the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy and a former Advisory Board Member of The Women’s Fund.

Karen received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in Finance.
