A trained geophysicist, Martin Bachmann has been a member of Wintershall’s Board of Executive Directors since 2009. He is in charge of Exploration & Production. His responsibilities include Wintershall’s production companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Argentina, and Libya. In addition to German and English, he also speaks Dutch, French, and Spanish. Born in Switzerland, he studied geophysics at ETH technical university in Zürich. He left the country in 1983 to take up a management position with Shell. Over the next 17 years, his career took him to Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Syria, before he moved to Great Britain to become General Manager of Shell UK Ltd. in 2000. In 2003, he transferred to The Hague, where he was appointed Vice President Russia, Caspian, and SE Europe. Bachmann joined Wintershall in 2009 as Head of Exploration and Production
