General Manager, Africa Exploration, CNOOC International
Martin has over 35 years experience in the E&P business through senior technical and exploration management roles in CNOOC International, Nexen Petroleum UK Limited, Petro-Canada, Suncor, Shell, CGG and Robertson Research. Martin is currently the General Manager, West Africa Exploration, managing CNOOC International’s captured exploration assets and exploration growth activity in Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Nigeria, Gabon and Congo, and prior to this was the UK Exploration and New Ventures Manager for Nexen. At Petro-Canada and Suncor, he was Regional Exploration Manager for Northern Latin America and also held the position of Director for Strategy and Business Planning. Whilst at Shell, Martin held technical roles specialising in stratigraphy, working on the geological evaluation of many basin across the world. Martin started his career at Robertson Research in 1982 as a biostratigrapher, specialising in calcareous nannofossils and has published peer reviewed papers on the subject.
