Nikolaj Svane joined the Maersk Group in 2006 as HR Partner at Maersk Drilling, and in 2011 became Head of HR for Maersk Oil in Qatar.

He subsequently worked in Maersk Oil in a series of executive roles related to HR, talent, learning and organisational performance under mergers and acquisitions.

In February 2017, Nikolaj rejoined Maersk Drilling as Chief Human Resources Officer, Vice President and a member of the Senior Management Team. In 2018 he took charge of strategy and communications, and today is responsible for driving Maersk Drilling’s strategic direction and performance. As of 27 September 2019, Nikolaj was appointed Chief Strategy and People Officer and part of Maersk Drilling’s Executive Leadership Team.

Nikolaj holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen and various executive certifications from IMD and Columbia Business School.
