Philip Morgan

Philip is a partner in Freshfields’ Singapore office and the firm’s Head of Energy & Natural Resources for Asia.
Philip brings over 20 years of experience advising a wide range of corporates, financial investors and government-linked companies on their acquisition, development and disposal of oil & gas, LNG and power assets, across the full value chain and asset lifecycle.
He has advised clients on many of the most significant upstream M&A transactions in Asia-Pacific during the 14 years in which he has been based in the region, including most recently, ConocoPhillips’ US$1.355bn sale of its operated interest in the Corridor gas block in Indonesia to Medco Energi, Repsol’s sale of its Malaysian and Vietnam assets to Hibiscus Petroleum, and Udenna Corporation’s acquisition and proposed acquisition of Chevron’s and Shell’s interests in the Malampaya gas field in the Philippines. He has also acted on a number of significant project developments, including the largest in Indonesia’s history (the US$21bn development of the Tuban refinery and petrochemical complex in Java).
Philip is a member of the AIEN ’s Jakarta steering committee and is an occasional lecturer at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He is recognised by all major legal directories as a leader in the field of projects and energy work in Southeast Asia.
