Ståle Monstad (born 1964) joined Aker Energy in 2018 as SVP Exploration, from the position as Chief Geologist for Exploration at Aker BP ASA.

Prior to joining Aker BP, Mr. Monstad worked as a Chief Geologist at Point Resources, Pure E&P and DNO ASA, where he also held the position as the Director for Subsurface. He started his career in Norsk Hydro, where he held several leading positions from 1994 to 2001, when he left the company in favour of Dong Energy.

Mr. Monstad holds a cand. scient. in sedimentology and sequence stratigraphy from the University of Bergen. Mr. Monstad is a Norwegian citizen.
