Chief Exploration Officer – Kosmos Energy

Tracey K. Henderson is Chief Exploration Officer – Kosmos Energy. Tracey has participated in the discovery and appraisal of major oil and gas resources offshore Mauritania, Senegal, Ghana, and Equatorial Guinea.  Ms. Henderson joined Kosmos Energy in 2004, and she has played an instrumental role in building and replenishing the company’s industry-leading exploration portfolio. Ms. Henderson was a key member of the technical team responsible for the Tortue, Marsouin, Teranga and Yakaar natural gas discoveries offshore Mauritania and Senegal, which together opened one of the largest new hydrocarbon basins along the Atlantic Margin. In addition, she was involved in the discovery of the Jubilee Field offshore Ghana, which is considered one of the largest oil discoveries offshore West Africa during the last decade.  Prior to joining Kosmos, Ms. Henderson established her record of exploration success at Triton Energy where she was a project geologist working on the Ceiba, Okume, and Oveng oil discoveries offshore Equatorial Guinea. Ms. Henderson earned a master’s degree in geophysics and a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Texas at Dallas.

She was a key member of the technical team that built the Kosmos portfolio which included licenses in Ghana, Mauritania and Senegal, and ultimately resulted in the Ghana Jubilee Field discovery and the Tortue, Marsouin and Teranga discoveries in Mauritania and Senegal. In her current role she is responsible for managing integrated functional technical teams for existing assets and new ventures.

Tracey holds a master’s degree in geophysics and a bachelor of science degree in geology from the University of Texas at Dallas.
