Tyler Tarnoczi

As Senior Specialist, Climate and Sustainability at Cenovus Energy, Tyler is responsible for stewarding greenhouse gas (GHG) policy considerations into the company’s capital governance process and long-term strategy. Tyler also oversees the development of climate-related targets, carbon policy analysis and advocacy, carbon market trading, climate-related disclosures, and supports investment analysis of low-carbon business opportunities.

Tyler has 15 years of experience working on climate-related issues in the energy sector. Tyler previously held roles in environmental strategy, regulatory compliance, and government affairs. Prior to joining Cenovus in 2011, Tyler worked for an engineering firm that conducted GHG measurement and regulatory compliance activities. Tyler started his career as a carbon offset project developer focused on renewable energy projects, energy efficiency, carbon capture and storage, and nature-based carbon projects.

Tyler holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and received a MBA with a finance specialization from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business. Tyler also holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Chemistry from the University of Calgary and a master’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Manitoba.
