Ulises Hernández Romano

Ulises Hernández-Romano has a geology degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a PhD from the Postgraduate Research Institute for Sedimentology, University of Reading, UK.

He joined Pemex E&P in 1999 as a sedimentologist, working also as seismic interpreter and prospect evaluator until 2002. From 2002 to 2008 he worked as reservoir geologist and multidisciplinary team leader for field development projects in the offshore Tampico-Misantla and onshore Veracruz basins. From 2008 to 2011 he was Technical Advisor in the Exploration Headquarters in Villahermosa. In 2011 he joined the Regional Studies Team in Villahermosa, where he was in charge of deepwater exploration studies. In 2013 he became Manager of the Onshore Southeastern Basins Exploration Asset and in 2014 Manager of Reservoir Geology at Exploration Headquarters, both in Villahermosa.

In 2015 he was appointed Vicepresident of Portfolio Management and New Ventures in the Exploration Direction, Pemex Exploration & Production. Since January 2017 he is Vicepresident of Geociences and Technical Assurance in the Exploration Direction, Pemex Exploration & Production.

He is also past-president of the Mexican Association of Petroleum Geologists (AMGP).
