Willie Mokgatlhe holds a Master of Science Degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield Institute of Technology (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Botswana. He has vast experience in the Aviation and Petroleum industry and has held senior positions in large private and parastatal organisations in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and the Netherlands. His career commenced at Air Botswana Corporation in 1987 where he held several posts and was responsible for Customer Service, Market Research, Product Design, Strategy, Marketing and Stakeholder Relations. He has served as Public Affairs and Marketing Manager for Shell Oil Botswana; Strategic Issues Manager for Shell Southern Africa and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Botswana Corporation before rejoining Shell.

In 2005, he was appointed as Country Chairman for Shell Namibia Limited and in 2010 moved to Shell International (based in Dan Haag – Netherlands) where he took on the position of Government Relations Adviser for Africa. He was assigned as Country Chairman – Shell Oil Botswana & Shell Namibia in 2012, where he concurrently managed the two operations. Willie is the founding CEO of Botswana Oil Limited and has been with the organization since July, 2013. Willie has held Directorship positions in a number of organisations, including: Chairman of National Development Bank, Airline Association of Southern Africa, Shell Oil Botswana and Shell Namibia Limited, Board member of Botswana Postal Services, Botswana Development Corporation and Botswana Oil Limited. His areas of interest include Global Leadership and Brand Management. He is an avid reader and enjoys the outdoors. Willie has two children, Kelesitse and Betsho Mokgatlhe.
