Mr. Charles Nyirahuku has over 16 years’ experience in the petroleum sector, with skills in designing national policy and regulatory frameworks, exploration licensing, project origination and management, transaction advice and facilities operations. He played an instrumental role in monetizing the potential of methane gas in Lake Kivu, from exploration, through piloting, until contracting and operation. He later on pioneered the petroleum exploration program in Rwanda, advising policy makers on strategic orientation and policy formulation, institutional framework and private investment mobilization. After working in East Africa region on various energy, power and petroleum project, Charles joined the African Natural Resources, a non-lending entity of the African Development Bank which supports African countries maximize the outcomes from their natural resources. As the Chief Gas Regulatory Officer, he is supporting Tanzania and Mozambique to enhance the legal and regulatory framework in the natural gas sector. He is a holder of a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
