Juan Carlos Bermeo
Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Ecuador
Juan Carlos Bermeo is a Civil Engineer graduated at the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador. He has two postgraduate degrees: in mediation and settlement of Environmental conflicts and Sustainable Development; and a master's degree in Integrated Management Systems and a Diploma in Energy and Environment. In his 39 years of professional experience, he has served in the public and private sectors in areas such as: counselling and execution of projects, environmental management, drilling, among other aspects related to hydrocarbon and hydraulic issues. He has held several important positions: OCP Project, General Coordinator of the Administration and Supervision Unit; National Director of Hydrocarbons; Maintenance Project Manager of the Heavy Crude Oil Pipeline (OCP Ecuador); Development Bank of Ecuador Consultant, National Advisor in the Institutional Strengthening Project (WASHED) for the Ecuadorian Institute of Sanitary Works; Manager of the North Branch of the Development Bank of Ecuador. He has also made technical publications related to his area of expertise. He has served as as university professor and speaker at national and international level.
