Meet the speaker
Yann Kirsch
Chief Operating Officer & BD,
Perseus Energy

February 2020
What is your main goal for 2020?
Our main goal for the next year is to maximize and stabilize production with our newly drilled wells in Tajón and Fortuna Nacional.
Can you give a brief overview of Perseus’s operations in Mexico?
We have two fields in the Tabasco State which were awarded in R1.3. We have exiting wells in both fields and have drilled one new well in each field.
Tajon: T-2 is a HTHP well with a TD of 6189md. We reached JST and we are in completion process of the well. Data shows that it will be a great producing well.
Fortuna Nacional: FN19 is a tertiary well. We are in the process of perforating prospective intervals.
Both fields have an extensive potential.
Can you tell us one interesting fact about Perseus's history?
Perseus has been a catalyst for Tabasco State Universities in having their students actively involved in operation both in office and professional activities in the field.
What is your ultimate ambition in Mexico?
To manage production growth on both Oil and Gas in the south east region of Mexico in a respectful and sustainable manner both to the environment and the communities.
Do you feel that the cancellation of the energy bid rounds have affected you? If so, how?
We have to prove that we are capable of fulfilling our objectives as to show that private companies are here to add value to the industry and the country.
What do you feel is the main challenge operating in Mexico and what are you looking forward to in 2020?
Infrastructure is our biggest challenge. Inter-connectivity and the capacity to process hydrocarbons in harmony with Pemex's current capacity.
What are you most looking forward to in 2020?
We are looking forward to new opportunities to support the O&G industry and help national sovereignty for hydrocarbons.
You put a lot of focus on benefiting local communities. How? What are you most proud of so far?
We are proud of three main things – the interaction that we have with the communities – promoting the generation of jobs and local supply; the training that we offer in the field of hydrocarbons; and the support offered through universities and programs dedicated to the social part.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of entering Mexico's O&G market?
