How did you come to be in the energy industry?
In 2002, after getting married to my wonderful wife Janine, we moved to Calgary and I continued my practice as a Mexican Lawyer assisting foreign companies stablishing in Mexico, including oil and gas service companies. Since 2002 I have been involved in Mexico’s reshaping oil and gas sector.

What is your proudest work-related achievement to date?
My ability to have partnered with a very talented group of professionals.

Where do you see the greatest opportunity in the energy market?
All the infrastructure required to properly develop all E&P’s blocks being awarded by the CNH. It will bring tremendous development to the various regions of the country.

Where do you see the greatest challenges?
The regulatory framework is overwhelming for the operators.

Who had inspired you to join or develop within the industry?
My partners at SMPS-Adinco are very talented and knowledgeable professionals who have done great services to various operators and that inspired me.

What was the wisest advice you received from a mentor?
You achieve your goals by forming and integrating with a team. Not individually.

What advice would you pass onto a recent graduate wishing to work in your line of business?
Find the right team for you.

If you could wave a magic wand over the global industry, what would you change and why?
A stronger responsibility of the operators towards the communities the operate at.

What’s the one interesting fact about you that no one would suspect?
I have been advocating for an efficient Oil and Gas sector in Mexico since 2002 and have participated on as many forums promoting the importance of a strong industry in Mexico.

How do you prefer to spend your spare time?
With my wife and kids at our farm in Calgary

What is your hobby or an achievement outside of career?
Working out and playing soccer.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?
The Caribbean.

All-time favourite book?
Living to Tell the Tale/ Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

All-time favourite film?
The Godfather

What three items would you take with you to a desert island?
A family photo, a notepad and a bottle of water.
